デービッドからのメール（大統領選について）

思っていたよりも、かなり重い返事が返ってきました。
日本では、アメリカ大統領選挙は、初の女性大統領か、初の有色人種の大統領の誕生かで、湧いています。さて、テレビの報道通り、そんなお祭り騒ぎが起こっているのでしょうか？
いえ、実は違うようです。
デービッドが、投票したかったビル・リチャードソンは、最も早くから、アメリカ軍のイラク撤退を、主張していたようです。かなり国外に向けた政策をもっていた人物であるようです。しかし残念ながら、ディベートで敗戦してしまいました。
それと比較してみると、やや軽い感じがする民主党の両名は、やはりディベートに強いだけの人なのでしょうか？
世界の情勢を大きく左右する、アメリカ大統領選挙は、こんな軽い認識で見過ごして良いのだろうかと思った私は、少しでも多くの日本人に、この状態を知らせるべく、メールの使用許可をデービッドの取り、皆さんに紹介するものです。

I have not decided, I don't feel very good about any of them, the person I liked the best was Bill Richardson, but he got beat in the debate and dropped out.

I don't know what to think about Iraq, I don't know how many Americans were killed there Today, but 5 were killed yesterday, and 3 were killed the day before, not to mention 35 Iraqi in those same 2 days.
We have had near 4,000 killed and many more than that injured physicaly and mentally so far.
It seems a shame to loose so much and not complete the job, the job being to instill democracy in Iraq, but on the other hand, why is it our job to do this?
My belief is that if the worlds safety is in danger, and we can help as Americans, then we should come to the aid of our fellow planets inhabitants.
But Iraq is near 3,000 years old and the USA is just 232 years old.
Compare that with Japan, legend has it that Japan was founded in 660BC, that would make it near the same age as Iraq.
It seems to me that we are out of place to think we should impose our beliefs on their people, those people will want to live as they are comfortable with their society, and that may differ from how we like to live.
I do know that there are hungry people in the US and people who cannot afford medical care and if the billions of dollars we have spent on Iraq were spent here there would be many grateful people.
